The Light Was Lost

and the light [...] was lost . . .

This is my first ever real ficlet. I wrote it 9 May 2002, right before I fell out of the Lord of the Rings fandom. I always wanted to write more to it, but my muses were dead and although I really liked the story, I felt I just couldn't write more. I haven't touched it in about 7 months now, and reread today on a whim and realized part of the reason why I could never write more to it, is because to write more to it would be to taint what I did write. So instead of a story, I wrote a ficlet; a vignette. It's poignant, sad and bitter. I think it's a nice last piece that parallels in feeling my end with the Lord of the Rings fandom.
