Layout Description
Welcome to my Layout Description page. This page will change each time the
layout for my main page is updated and the comments will be archieved. I realized a lot
of the layouts I've made need credit given or that I'd like to elaborate more on who/why
the layout was chosen. Please enjoy.

Current Layout: Samwise Gamgee
Welcome to my first layout dedicated to an live-action character from a movie / book! This layout is dedicated to Samwise Gamgee, from the new movie Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. It is also dedicated to the Samwise Gamgee of the books, who has a little more brains, a softer tongue and a lot more 'screen time'. I like them both very much. ^_^; The actor playing Sam is Sean Astin, but this isn't dedicated to him (although he portrayed Sam lovely, and looked the part very well -- at least in the first movie, although I trust he'll be lovely in the future two as well). After having read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring I saw the first movie. I liked Sam a lot from the book to begin with, and the movie just made me enjoy him more. Lines like: "I weren't dropping no eaves sir!" when asked by Gandalf if he had been 'eavesdropping', and of course my favourite line from the movie, near the end, which also appears (in part/whole depending on the layout size you choose): "I made a promise. A promise I intend to keep: 'Don't you lose him Samwise Gamgee.' And I don't mean to. I don't mean to." Well, that might be off one or two words from the line in the movie, but it's very close. ^_^
So then I read the books (well as of typing this I am 262 pages into the third, but all the big stuff has happened and now everyone is settling down), and I just absoulutely fell for Sam. He does some crazy-amazing things in the second book, and I was almost sad that he had to go and save Frodo at the end, because he was becoming so cool. But 'becoming cool' isn't Sam-like, and so it made sense for him to rescue his master. Still, he goes into the hell of Mordor, and right up to the firey pits of Mount Doom with Frodo, and while he might complain and become worn, he never, ever gives up on Frodo. In fact, Frodo is his strength. His desire to keep Frodo alive, to keep him going on his quest and unburdened is what actually gets the quest completed. Alone, Frodo would have never made it. Anyway, I see a little of myself in Sam (although I'm no where near as selfless), and I suppose you could say I admire the little guy. ^_^ So this layout is for him.
The main image of Samwise smoking his pipe (with or without the four Hobbits under the tree, depending on the layout you choose) I screengrabbed from a nice little screensaver the offical Lord of the Rings website has: http://www.lordoftherings.net/. It's a lame little screensaver, but that picture was really neat, and well, it's got Sam sitting there nice and big and cute! =D The screensaver is called "Beyond the Shire". I thought that the foilage and such were too perfect not to hide my kodoma friends, so stuck quite a few in (although there are more in the 1024x800 version than the 800x600). I used the font Sketch Heavy for the "Samwise Gamgee" name, Americana BT for the link names as well as the link of text below the image. The 'The Lord of the Rings' logo I took off a Samwise Gamgee desktop wallpaper offered on the offical Lord of the Rings website and editted and recoloured, etc. The kodoma are from screengrabs I took of the Mononoke Hime DVD. None of this belongs to me, except maybe the design.
The Splah page features Frodo Baggins, Meriadoc Brandybuck, Peregrin Took and Samwise Gamgee in Rivendell, the home of Elrond the Elf. The image was taken from a desktop wallpaper avaliable at the offical Lord of the Rings website. I used Arcane font for the numbers and text on the Splash page, and some other weird techniques for all the BG and stuff. It's nothing too fancy, but it looked better than a solid BG. Enjoy.
