Tuxedo Kamen

Augh. Ahahaha. Back in 2002 I met and befriended several people in a Sailormoon music dance troupe who were casting for a Tuxedo Kamen. I wasn't keen on playing him but the idea of performing and hanging out with my friends seemed like a great idea, so I accepted the role. Unfortunately, the show we were going to got cancelled because of bad weather (we were performingin Idaho and most of us were flying in from California and Colorado). Still, I had the costume and just never wore it so I put it on and took some pictures of me in it around the house.

Tuxedo Kamen
This is Tuxedo Kamen from the Sailormoon musicals (SeraMyu). I joined a cosplay group for the SeraMyu musicals in 2002 and in 2003 was cast as Tuxedo Kamen for a two-hour production we were going to put on at Anime Oasis in Idaho.
I created this costume from a previous existing costume I had, of me dressed like Christian from Moulin Rouge! I basically bought the tuxedo at a thrift store and added the gold trim and gold buttons later. I made a gold and red lamé cape and affixed it to the tuxedo with snaps so I could remove it. The rest of the costume was pretty much store bought. I wore a white cumberbun, a white dress shirt, a black tie with black rhinestones glued to it, white dress gloves and black boots. All of the photos were taken at my house in California and not at a convention. Had I actually performed with Yume no Senshi in this costume, I likely would have had a magician's-like cane, a rose or two and maybe a mask and/or top hat. But since the event never happened, and I had the costume mostly done, I felt it was time I took some pictures in it. I will likely never wear this to a convention, although I'd love to someday get shots of me in it with a SeraMyu style Usagi.
