Perhaps the greatest gem of my collection, Unico sleeping in the West Wind's arms. This gorgeous cel originally exhibited at 90,000 yen, but my patience and persistence meant I got it for a much more manageable price. Unfortunately, the cel didn't come with any douga. The West Wind layer is stuck to a blank douga and the Unico layer is stuck to a piece of clear tracing paper. I will likely, at some point, attempt to clean up and separate these pieces, but for now I'm happy to keep them safe in my collection.
This scene comes within the first five minutes of the movie, before the opening title sequence. The Gods tell the West Wind to take Unico away, and she cradles his sleeping body in her arms as she decides what to do with him. It's such a sweet, iconic scene, and Unico is featured so big and bright, centered in this piece. It's a real gem of my collection.
