Escaflowne FanArt

Drawn By: Van Donovan

This is my Vision of Escaflowne FanArt Section. Spoilers mentioned, and pictured, so be warned. Alot of these aren't actual drawings. Some are sketches, some are drawings. I'll try to fit them into catagories. Also, I roleplay(ed) Van Fanel alot, and in the Roleplay, he changed his clothing attire, so there are some pictures of Van in different outfits. Just be warned. Also some pictures have gross scanlines through them. Blame my old scanner, I'm sorry.

Drawn in 1998.

Sketches:

"Ii o tenki desu ne?" This is Van in a tanktop and Allen in his kishi outfit. Van's relishing in the coolness saying: "Isn't it nice today?" and Allen is miserable in the background saying: "It's hot . . .". I drew this in class, in pen.

"Iie. Atsui. Totemo atsui." The roles are reversed. Van in Allen's clothes, Allen in a tanktop asking if Van also thinks its nice. Van looks miserable and says no. I don't know why it's tinted green. o.O;;

Knife-nose Everyone kept saying my Van drawings has killer knife-noses. I agree, some do . . . but this one, he really has a knife nose.

Hindi Van This is only called Hindi, because I drew it in class on some Hindi language sheets I'd been given. It's a side-profile of Van's head.

Dark Varie From the Roleplay, this is a sketch I CG [Computer Graphicked]. It's got no features, just a black form of Varie holding a green Dragu-energist that she is going to present to Van and Folken.

Van in a loin cloth. I was badgered into this one. It's in pen, so I couldn't fix his overly-large head, but oh well. He's looking cocky. It hardly looks like Van, really . . .

Ryuujin tsukemono I drew this the same night I drew the Angel Dilandau [below]. It's not -really- Escaflowne related, but it is a pickle with ryuujin wings. It was derived when I drew the tenshi-Dilandau, we called it "ten-dil" and Dil is, of course, a type of pickle, Dill. Hence, the ryuujin pickle was born.

Ryuujin potato This one just followed in suit when my best friend asked me to draw one.

Stop Van stepping in front of Jey when the two encounter a man named Collins in our Roleplay. Note, Van in his Zaibach clothes [sans cloak] and weaponless, ^^;; he's so silly.

Switched Clothes Van in Jey's trenchie and relaxing on a lawn-chair in the background and Jey in Van's usual red shirt and khaki pants looking miserable/pissed in the foreground.

Tenshi Van First angel picture of Van I ever did. It's freaky, it's in pen. It's a sketch. Also, you can see a little un-finished sketchie of a freaky looking Van sitting crossedlegged and holding an arrow. Ignore it, please. ~_~

Test Angel Second time I tried to draw a tenshi Van. This is on my Japanese test. It's lame. I'm not sure why I'm putting it up here.

Van as Folken Ah, another freaky-en drawing. This was on my economics notes. It's a bust shot of Van in Folken's attire [which is flipped, FYI] complete with the tear-drop tattoo. I don't like this piccy. He looks bored.

Zaibach Van Just a head-shot of Van in his Zaibach cape. I drew this in Literature and I colored it with pens and colored-pencil. It was originally drawn in pen, so . . .

Folken Sketch Oh, real original name. ^^;; I drew this during the boring two-hour choir final where we did nothing! It's entirely in blue-ink [scanned black], so he's sorta helter-skelter.

Math Angel He has nothing to do with math other than the fact that he's on my math notes for my Algebra math class. Ah well. He's got pathetically tiny wings, too.

Drawings:

Parody The first Escaflowne anything I ever drew. It's a comic/manga doujinshi of Van and Folken. Read it from right to left.

Ame Van After Van catches Allen and Hitomi kissing. He's standing in the pouring rain and looks oh-so-sad. I drew that.

Daily Angel One Okay, he's nekkid in this picture. He's nekkid in most of my angel pictures. Nothing X-rated however. His wings are not his ryuujin-type wings, but it was just me learning to draw wings. He's also wearing his black-leather Zaibach gloves. At first it was unintentional -- now they're just ubiquious.

"Kore wa ore no yume . . ." "This is my dream . . ." It's the second of the Daily Angels. Van is reaching up towards the light. Alot of people ask if he's pulling a Kamui with one black one white wing -- but it's just a bad shading factor.

Daily Angel Three Van with mini-blinds for wings. o.O;;; once again he's nekkid, and nothing is showing that is X-rated. His wings look freaky . . . too far spaced and shaded too dark. Oh well.

Daily Angel Four On the edge. He's got his black Zaibach pants and gloves on in this picture, but huge fluffy wings again. This always reminds me of a Rei Ayanami picture, although I didn't look at one to draw it.

Halloween Angel This is the finale drawing of my Daily Angel pictures. I drew this one November 1st to represent a Halloween Angel of Van. He's a bit evil looking, but most everyone likes it.

Van & Jey Back-to-Back Jey is the other boy I Roleplayed with, and in this picture he and a shirtless-Van are pictured back to back. I colored this one on PPLE.

Van and Bow Van in his Zaibach clothes, sans cape, and his bow. In the Roleplay he lost his King's Sword during his escape from Zaibach and hence had to return to archery.

Jey kills Van The climax of our Roleplay. Van had been fatally injured during the defeat of Zaibach and his wounds were directly linked to the Escaflowne. Neither Jey nor Folken knew how to summon the Ispanos, and so, to end Van's suffering, Jey took the bleeding boy into his lap, raised his daggers to his throat and . . . oh, bleah too much to explain, email me if you're really interested. Colored with PPLE.

Dilandau Angel It was about 4 am, I was sleepy and it was before I learned to draw wings [I still can't draw wings]. It's, um . . . Tenshi-Dilandau. Be afraid . . . be very afraid.

Kishi Jey Okay, this isn't really Escaflowne. It's Jey in Allen's clothes. It's the first time I ever drew Jey, though, and he's in Allen's clothes, so I had to add it.

Ellemir, Jey and Van This is a cute "Out of Character" picture I did of Van, Jey, and the dame we Roleplay with, Ellemir. It turned green-tinted when I saved it off PPLE. I only colored their eyes. Van's so little . . .

Folken and Princess Eries Inspired by a chat on the Escaflowne Mailing list, I drew this drawing. It's alright, but has enough flaws to make me want to redraw it. I will -- someday.

Blue Van This was drawn for the Roleplay when Van and Jey had returned to Gaea. He finally sheds all of his Zaibach outfits save the boots and dons this gawdy blue and white outfit.

Dilandau in a Tanktop Heh, this is my favorite piccy of Dilandau modified so he's just in his tanktop verses his Dragon Slayers uniform. The little scribble person by his shoulder is me. I'm saying: "Omae no utsukushii kao darou . . ." and the little teeny arrow pointing at the scribble me says: "Ore" = "Me".

Pained Wings Nekkid Van more or less crawling on the group, with his wings exploded from his back.

Pained Wings II Van on his feet, arched forward with the wind through his newly exploded wings. July 26th 1999, this image was the main page image for awhile.

Umi no Tenshi This is a drawing I did in November and only liked now enough to post. It's Van standing in the water arms around himself with his wings shooting out into the sky. o.O; It's not really finished, but close enough. The wings are ugly, but that's expected, since it's me. ^_^

Drawn in 2000.

Sketches:

Leather Van First in a set of three of the Escaflowne characters in leather. This was for a sketch of a much larger cast picture Jey was thinking of drawing, but it may never happen.

Leather Eries Princess Eries in leather =D She looks like a hoochie. Heh.

Leather Folken Hubba-hubba! Folken in leather! I like it. =9

Drawings:

Laced Van Jey and I started up our RP after about a year of not playing, and this is the first picture of Van I've drawn since. It was inspired by Jey and I drooling over lace up pants and this is what came up.

Drawn in 2001.

Sketches:

Suicidal Van Random picture sketch I did of Van slicing his wrist. @_@.

Drawings:

Winterwonder Van Van in modern day winter garb, catching snowflakes in his gloved hands. I don't like the picture much, but it's okay.
